Internaftiki undertakes the brake holding capacity tests on mooring winches at the required intervals and in conjunction with its own testing equipment.
The brake mechanism of a mooring which is been tested, an important element of the winch which secures the drum and consequently the mooring line at the shipboard end. A further important function of the brake is to act as a safety device in case the line load becomes excessive, by rendering and allowing the line to shed its load before it breaks.
Brake Holding Capacity (BHC) and Rendering points of mooring winches are measured and assuring a safe operating mooring. With the completion of tests a relative statement is provided.
